Title... Managing Director, Private Clients
Location... New York, NY
Salary... $185,000 - $300,000 range depending upon qualifications

ABOUT THE COMPANY…Our client has built a strong reputation for managing long-term financial security management strategies for individuals through their Private Client Practice; for highly compensated corporate executives through the Selective Executive Benefits Group; and for large employee groups through the Company Sponsored Benefits Team. ABOUT THE POSITION…This is a new and key position in the firm, reporting directly to the Managing Partner. It requires the individual to lead, mange, and coordinate three departments that are responsible for the delivery of their core product and service to their private high net worth clients. The departments include a case design team, an underwriting team, and a client service team. • Review of inforce policy and plan-related reports prior to delivery

The quality of these reviews will be a major area upon which the performance of this role will be measured.

Work closely with the Principals and key staff to understand an enhanced vision they have for the private client administration platform. In the past two years, the private clients segment has enjoyed significant growth and finds itself doing fewer transactions that are larger and offer them the opportunity to more deeply engage their clients and the client’s advisors through an innovate and what will be a unique set of administration tools designed to support the planning they help clients implement. They have developed a fairly specific list of the results they would like to see this administration platform achieve, but now need to work with the person who fills this role to accomplish the following:

  • Enhance the vision where appropriate.
  • Determine feasibility
  • Develop a plan for implementation, including people, management, timeline, and technology
  • Oversee implementation and stabilization
  • Ensure ongoing management of high quality and consistency service delivery

The quality of each department’s internal and external workflow efficiency will be a major area upon which the performance of this role will be measured.

WHAT’S REQUIRED FROM YOU…Must have minimum of around 10 years management experience with a strong understanding of life insurance terminology and the advanced underwriting principals, including design, underwriting, and administration.

  • Demonstrated management and leadership experience/skills
  • Success in developing and managing teams

  • Exceptional skill set in organizing, systematizing, and establishing workflow processes
  • Critically reviewing work of staff
  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial sales environment

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and mange multiple tasks and requests
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Success and growth will initially require occasional-to-regular work in evenings and weekends. (Our client believes in a healthy balance between work and non-work life and their generous vacation policy with great flexibility reflects this. However, this particular role will require a deep commitment to master over the first twelve to eighteen months.)
