GENERAL DESCRIPTION – Summary The Safety Consultant is responsible for providing technical and regulatory expertise to support multiple clients with occupational safety and health compliance needs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing comprehensive safety audits, developing customized written compliance programs, developing and delivering safety training, performing industrial hygiene monitoring, conducting site safety inspections, providing OSHA compliance assistance and managing an ongoing client base.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Perform site safety audits and inspections, complete comprehensive report of findings including remediation/correction plan to ensure compliance
- Prepare detailed reports of findings using appropriate forms, diagrams, photos and narratives to provide a clear understanding of exposures
- Examine work sites to identify physical and chemical hazards in the workplace and identify unsafe work practices that may contribute to injury
- Prepare and deliver safety training presentations using PowerPoint and other methods
- Develop employee and supervisor accountability programs
- Provide Industrial Hygiene Services including noise and employee exposure monitoring
- Provide creative compliance management solutions and recommendation for clients
- Conduct OSHA compliance and safety assessments
- Develop written reports summarizing services provided to clients
- Manage clients to ensure satisfaction with quality and cost of projects
- Develop proposals to clients and potential clients
- Communication with clients and potential clients on existing and new regulatory issues, trends and initiatives• Project management to ensure project goals are met as well as technical excellence, quality and client satisfaction
- Design and implement safety-related programs, such as OSHA compliance programs, safety programs
- Assist various clients with transportation compliance needs, including written DOT program development, driver training, and record keeping
- Perform driver observations on the road to ensure safe driving habits are monitored and enforced
- Perform accident and injury investigations to identify safety violations and determine how to correct safety problems
- Predict problems by calculating risks and examining data from safety records, as well as industry data
- Conduct safety investigations to determine whether a client is meeting required codes and safety procedures
- Manage client services on an ongoing basis
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- BA/BS Degree in Occupational Safety or Safeyt Management
- Zero to five years experience in health and safety
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to develop professionally prepared technical reports and proposals

WORKING CONDITIONS
Fast-paced, multiple-task environment requiring strong organizational skills and sound decision making. Work environment includes construction sites, factories, industrial complexes located indoors and outdoors. Work requires the ability to climb ladders and circumnavigate rough terrain and stand and walk for prolonged periods of time. Work is performed at varying times to accommodate customer needs and demands. The job involves driving to, from, and between customer locations. Occasional projects require consultant to work second or third shifts and Saturdays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to:
- Perform work on a computer for extended periods of time
Sit/stand for extended periods of time in work area
- Grasp objects using your fingers (fine motor skills)
- Communicate in writing and verbally in a clear, concise and professional manner
- Travel by air (occasionally) or ground transportation as required in performing job duties
- Lift and carry objects up to 40 pound
- Tolerate temperature extremes indoors and outdoors
- Climb ladders and stairs to access client work areas
- Walk and stand for prolonged periods of time
- Speak and present for up to 10 hours
